What it looks like

Sometimes a client draws what a part of them looks like, writes a letter they will never send, makes a timeline in collage, or notices how a feeling wants to move. No artistic skill is needed, and nothing is graded.

I have a BFA in dance, so movement and the body are familiar ground for me. I use creative work when it is appropriate for you, not as a gimmick.

Who it suits

  • People who intellectualize and find it hard to feel
  • Trauma survivors with memories that are hard to put into words
  • ADHD and autistic adults who think better with their hands
  • Creatives and artists who want therapy in their own language

Good to know

These are creative approaches within therapy, not formal art therapy or dance/movement therapy, which are separate credentials. Everything works by video with whatever supplies you have at home.

Sessions are $180 for 60 minutes after a $200 initial assessment. I am in network with Anthem, Aetna and United through Alma, and provide superbills for other plans. See all fees.

Questions

Do I need to be artistic?

No. It is about expression, not skill.

Will you analyze my drawings?

No. You tell me what it means to you.

Is this art therapy?

No. I use creative methods within therapy. Formal art therapy is a separate profession.
